Terms of use & API access

Current access

FourAPI accepts applications for 5 individual developer places. An application requests API access only; it is not an offer to acquire ownership, equity, a partnership, employment or rights to FourAPI source code. You retain the rights you hold in your project and documents. Applying is free and does not guarantee selection or reserve a place.

Accounts are created through owner-approved invitations. Only the intended recipient may accept an invitation. Complete email verification, choose your own password, accept these terms and acknowledge the privacy notice to activate access. Invitations reserve a place for 48 hours and the email verifier can expire sooner. Contact support for corrections or a renewed invitation. Access is personal and non-transferable; keep credentials private and do not share, transfer or resell your place.

You may use the API within the project described in your application, subject to published limits and lawful processing arrangements for your users. Do not provide unrestricted public access through your key, bypass quotas, use duplicate accounts to evade limits or make unsupported availability or fidelity guarantees. Contact support before materially changing the intended use.

Current individual access is free, with up to twenty successful conversions per account per UTC day across all keys and 12 tools. All users share a ceiling of 100 admitted attempts per UTC day. In-flight and uncertain outcomes reserve allowance; confirmed processing failures release the personal reservation. Successfully generated output counts even if a later download is interrupted. Allowances do not roll over and results are not retained for replay. No purchase, paid subscription or automatic renewal is created.

The service may pause conversions or revoke access for security, abuse or capacity reasons. You can request review or close your FourAPI account through its deletion control. Account deletion does not erase shared waitlist/Auth information or separately retained security records; see the privacy notice. Free hosting has no uptime guarantee and exact original document layout is not guaranteed. Future paid services require separate published information and affirmative purchase.

Authorised use and integration

Process only files you are authorised to use. If your application accepts files from other people, provide appropriate information, permissions, security and lawful processing arrangements. Keep your real developer keys on trusted servers and promptly revoke or report a compromised key.

Do not bypass quotas, share access to evade limits, attempt unauthorised access, submit malware, deliberately exhaust resources or interfere with other users. Security research must stay within expressly authorised scope. Report suspected vulnerabilities privately to support@getfourpoint.com without retrieving other people’s files.

Choose an optional future API-key expiry or no expiration. Existing keys without expiry keep that lifetime. Expired or revoked keys cannot make new authenticated requests. The playground performs real conversions using the same personal allowance and shared service safeguard as API-key traffic; readiness checks and session issuance are not conversions.

Supported formats and output review

The engine supports the twelve conversions listed in the documentation, with stated input, page, pixel, character, cell, archive and output limits. Legacy binary DOC/XLS/PPT input, OCR and exact reproduction of every document feature are not offered by these endpoints.

Keep original files and review conversion output before sharing, printing or relying on it. Table detection, text order, fonts, formulas and complex layouts can differ from the source. Do not use unchecked output as the sole basis for a high-impact decision.

Availability, changes and support

No service-level agreement, uptime percentage, fixed response time or uninterrupted availability is offered for the service. A free hosting tier can sleep or become unavailable. Readiness checks must precede document submission.

We may change or suspend service features to fix faults or prevent abuse. Material changes to hosted access or paid terms must be communicated under the terms actually agreed at that time; they cannot be imposed by silently changing a published notice. Rights and responsibility

Ownership, third-party licences and document rights are explained on the Ownership page. Access does not grant rights in other users’ documents or transfer ownership of third-party software.

Errors and compatibility limitations can occur. Nothing on these pages excludes liability, legal remedies, consumer protections, privacy rights or statutory permissions that cannot lawfully be excluded. No blanket waiver, exclusive court venue or unverified commercial limitation of liability is imposed here.
